American actor Pat Finn, who featured in iconic television series such as Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed at the age of 60.

The skilled improv artist died at home in Los Angeles, California this Monday having undergone treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, as reported by reports.

"Pat considered no one a stranger - only friends he had yet to meet," his family said in a announcement.

They noted that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".

A Notable TV Career

Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he played the brother of the main character.

He subsequently landed a recurring role on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.

He appeared as Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, playing a social organizer famous for delegating tedious tasks to his guests.

In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous hit series, like:

  • The King of Queens
  • "Friends"
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

He was most recognized for playing Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.

His film credits encompass It's Complicated and "Santa Paws 2".

Away from his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was a professor.

"He guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils during his career and it's nearly impossible to find someone anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.

In a tribute, colleague and actor actor Richard Kind said there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Always positive, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote publicly.

Finn is remembered by his spouse Donna, his children, and his family.
