McKenna's Stance on The Scottish Club

The Ipswich boss described Celtic as "a really big football club" but emphasized he is "deeply involved" of a "extensive rebuilding" with the Championship side.

The mid-thirties assumed control of Portman Road in 2021 and led them to the English top flight with back-to-back promotions, but they won just four games last campaign as they were demoted back to the Championship and they presently occupy twelfth place in the Championship.

"There have been such conversations," the London-born ex- Northern Ireland youth international said when asked about being on Celtic's shortlist.

"This isn't a matter I have given any thought to, or where any portion of my concentration is currently.

"I have a special job here at a remarkable club. And we're at a really important stage of the season. Anything outside of that hasn't reached my awareness."

Reports indicate that the manager would be willing to talk to Celtic given his childhood support.

"During youth, we all have our preferences," he said when asked about those. "It's unlikely all people has to go around and announce what they used to be, but naturally it's a massive football club."

McKenna agreed to a new four-year contract in 2024 and was asked about his alleged buyout clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are provisions," he responded. "I don't know what my specific terms are and, were I informed, I wouldn't tell you anyway!

"I tackle this job like I will remain Ipswich manager indefinitely. I understand that's not invariably going to be the case, but I'll always do my best as while I remain in position."

The Welsh Coach's Situation

Bellamy represented Celtic on loan from Newcastle United in 2005, but the former Wales striker is inclined to finish the ongoing global tournament qualification, a stance that would practically eliminate the 46-year-old from assuming the Celtic job.

Wales are presently third in their qualifying group behind group toppers Belgium and runners-up North Macedonia.

Wins over the minnows and their rivals in November would secure their place in the qualification play-offs, but they are all but assured of making those, thanks to a productive Nations League campaign, should they not finish as their group runners-up.

Considering his current position, the Wales manager, whose contract expires after Euro 2028, would be unavailable until following the qualifying matches at the earliest.
