Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes across the region in response for a large-scale and continuing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any impact is uncertain and the US has remained silent.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have intercepted missiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with notable success and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.

It said debris fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
