Colts Battle Atlanta Falcons in German Capital – Week 10 NFL Action

Guten tag, football fans. Wie gehts? Alles klar I trust on this fine early start to the tenth week coming straight outta Deutschland. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be exact where at 8.30am CST/9.30am EST and 2.30pm GMT the powerful Indianapolis Colts (7-2) take on the Falcons (three wins and five losses). This marks the fifth matchup played on German soil and the initial in the capital city.

Pregame Highlights

As sparkly jackets go that is an absolute belter from Katarina Witt on the opening flip. A minor slip from Sky Sports there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the presenter with an accidentally live microphone.

So, the Colts have won the toss and have chosen to get the ball first. Daniel Jones and company will be setting up shortly. Will the QB bounce back after a difficult performance in their last game?

In a similar vein the singer belting out the US national anthem has some of the biggest shoulder embellishments you are ever likely to see. Loving the sartorial choices today. The game is about to start after a choral number for the national anthem of Germany. Elegant.

Opening Period Gameplay

Scoreless at 13:30 in the first

And we're off! And we have early drama after the Colts running back receives a short throw, sweeps out for 15 yards to the right side then fumbles … only for his center to save his bacon with the recovery. Colts are in Falcons territory already.

Still scoreless at 10:51

And the drama keeps coming as the Indianapolis attempts a fourth-down conversion. The risk doesn't work out as Josh Downs cannot reel in a fastball from the quarterback. Prior to the failed attempt Jessie Bates put a huge hit on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. The Falcons have come out fighting on defense as they attempt to end their string of three losses. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!

Score Updates

First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36

Was that a missed touchdown by Kyle Pitts? The Falcons player makes a crucial error, he was very open but the ball just slips through his grasp. That moment reflects the first round pick’s career to date.

A disappointing start but it only gets worse for the Falcons as they cough the ball back to the Colts on the 23-yard mark. The Falcons quarterback is hunted down and fumbles the football.

A nifty 22-yard run from the Colts receiver sets the running back up to roll in for the score on the following play. The placekicker skews the extra point wide. Mistake.

Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07

Penix Jr puts the fumble behind him by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a touchdown. The wide receiver makes some chunky receptions to put them in the red zone then the seas part for the running back to saunter on to the goal line through the heart of the field for a 13-yard gain. The running back finishes it off for a short scoring run of his own. The Falcons take the lead.

Additional Week 10 Games

Additionally, the full slate starting at 1 PM EST and 6 PM GMT (home teams listed first) is as follows:

  • (5-4) Panthers v Saints (1-8)

  • (5-3) Bears v Giants (2-7)

  • (3-5) Houston Texans v Jaguars (5-3)

  • (2-7) Miami Dolphins v Buffalo Bills (6-2)

  • (4-4) Minnesota Vikings v Baltimore Ravens (3-5)

  • (1-7) Jets v Browns (2-6)

  • (6-2) Buccaneers v Patriots (7-2)

An exciting lineup. My pick for the best game is the Vikings and Ravens playing out the top contest of the day.
